Settlement Services

Australia annually welcomes thousands of refugees and humanitarian entrants who have faced serious violations of their human rights. Over recent years, MRC has worked intensively to settle over 3,000 new migrants in their new home in Tasmania.

MRC has three main pathways to provide assistance for settlement and inclusivity of people of migrant backgrounds living in Tasmania.

Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) – Client Services

The SETS program supports individuals, families and communities who have been living in Australia for less than five years to address their settlement needs and to build the skills to participate in Australia’s economic and social life.

Community Capacity Building

The Community Capacity Building program provides assistance to community groups on an as needs basis to access community resources and facilities to support their capacity to self-organise.

Welcome to Tasmania – Information and Referral

MRC’s Welcome to Tasmania program aims to support migrants who have been living in Australia for over 5 years, or those who have not arrived under the Humanitarian Program. These information and referral services are provided to migrants free of charge.
