Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC)

Capacity building for people with disability, their families and carers.

Our Network Coordinators support individuals and families living with disability to build capacity by providing information and community introductions, facilitating user led networks and support groups and by providing opportunities for personal development by becoming a peer mentor.

MRC has received funding for its Beyond Limits project from the NDIS through its Information, Linkages and Capacity (ILC) Grants. A key focus of ILC is supporting people to build their capacity to participate in all aspects of life. MRC believe that by encouraging and initiating peer led networks and support groups, people living with disability and their families are able to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence through informal conversations.

With greater knowledge, skills and confidence migrants living with disability and their families are in a better position to self-advocate, lead group discussions and enable user led initiatives.

Our Network Coordinators will spend time with people in multicultural communities across Tasmania to provide opportunities to establish peer-to-peer networks and come together to discuss topics and address issues of their choosing. Our vision is to provide peer-led opportunities for migrants with disability and their families to gather, discuss, learn and enjoy each other’s company in a setting that fosters participation by all and provides avenues for emerging leaders.

At gatherings MRC will be available to share their experience and knowledge and provide information and linkages.

Where will these sessions take place?

There will be opportunities to meet in Launceston, Hobart and the North West and in other areas on request.
